l'esprit road race

A beautiful day in horse country with the great company of Jeff G. and Joe B. I was expecting a fast start but instead the race started at a crawl. Things didn't heat up til 5-6 miles into the first lap. For once my motor was going nicely and the pain felt like good pain. My legs were turning in circles and I felt like I could pull back and up on the pedals as hard as I could push down. I was at the front most of the race and got in a long but doomed three man break til the final turn. Jeff and Joe took turns pushing at the front in the early laps and it felt good to be a Savage Hill.

Nice course. We had three Savage riders at the race and we all took a crack at a break more than once. I hit the wall with 1.5 laps to go but Mitch was our strongman and held on, almost taking a top three finish with a break that nearly stuck to the end. This is a beautiful course in horse country - I highly recommend it if you're willing to make the drive.
