Well... What to say, I normally don't really post anything on these but I do love reading them. The main reason for the race report is to thank those in the race today. I really enjoyed watching the masters race especially since as soon as I walked up I saw Rich win a prime, that was cool, not even close. I also got to see some Todd tearing up the three's race, learned a lot from a really smart racer. The course was nice, field average in size but still fast. The teammates on the race were great, Mark and Craig did very well especially since they are new to crit racing, very smooth and great in the tight turns. I do however owe a huge appoligie to Dave, I remember asking him if he was interrested in a prime since I was itching to stretch out the legs when the bell rang and I was wanting to lead him out... next thing I knew he was hammering it, I mean hammering it and the radar speed check thing they had placed on the backstretch was reading ** so I thought well I guess that I have to go, we had a lead and the stud of race swept right under me going into the home stretch at twice my speed so my corning waisted a huge effort. The next two primes were the same... same guy same result so I knew if any of us wanted to win there would have to be a change. Last lap I knew criag was behind me I was thinking I could finally help... boy was I wrong. I waited on the backstretch about .5 miles to go when the typical cat 4 slow down happens then went all out like it was the finish... looked back before the last turn and the same stud was flying under me but noone else. Oh well he won the race much better racer but I totally lucked out and he overcooked the turn just enough to think about clipping out and left an opening for my fried legs. Thanks for the cheering but more importantly thanks for the great company to race with b/c as y'all know I wouldn't race without good people to race with. So for the year I really owe craig one probably 2 and same with Dave. Let me know when I can help.

I really hate racing maters when you're racing against 1s and 2s. Just could not get in the groove with this race, so I'll chalk it up as a warm for the cat 3 race. Nice 20 dollar prime and red road rash Rich!

Cat 3.

Thank God for that master’s warm-up! Felt pretty good with the younger generation. Stayed near the front and set a moderate tempo when Jim Matson was off the front several times. But some of his new "friends" made sure he didn't stray too far. The last lap was hairy, a crash on the back straight away. Now how in the hack can that happen? But it did, causing a split in the field. I'm in the right spilt, yea! I go into the last two turns settin pretty for the final sprint. But the guy in front on me crashes in the middle of the last turn, ho sh^^&^*. This causes a big gap between myself and the rider ahead of me. Try to do a sprint bridge up and the lags say no and I roll in 8th. Nice ride Doug M.

Pro 1/2/3.

Faaaaaaaaaaaaaaassssssssssssssssssssst!!!!!!!!!! Lasted three or four laps. But I got to ride with two of my heroes, gammer and swan!

My hate goes off to the IPRO boys and Jay B. for putting on a fun race. See yea next year. Hey Todd can I ride in the pace race?

Tour d'Burg

So this race was pretty sick, great course, boy band cash, good crowd…well drunk crowds atleast, 97 degrees!!!!!

Todd Lee is my favorite cyclist, he did 3 races today, wow. then cheered/fed Swain and I

OK: Tim Swain = Super Grover....the poor guy clipped a pedal today and crashed, again?!?!?! But he is OK

So 90 min Crit in the heat and a course with some tight corners, so I was pretty sure someone was going to lap the field today…..Really glad I built up my brand new Torelli yesterday in my basement, yes the cranks stayed on, no nothing else broke, yes it looks like a traffic cone, and yes it has a super special fork on it built for decending….actually it just weighs more than me

Good Idea: Wait for the good move, go with it, lap the field.
My Idea: attack 5 min in, counter your own move twice, get away with one other guy, get somewhere between 30 seconds and 1 min on the field, hold this for a half hour, then wait for the chase group to bridge up, only THEN can you lap the field......I think I am one of these people who decides something is a bad idea and thus is so intrigued that I absolutely must do it, kill.....no wonder it took that extra semester to get out of college.

So 12 of us lapped, then we came to such a crawling pace I actually saw one of the kids warming up for the kids race on the sidewalk actually pass us.

In the sprint I thought was exactly where I needed to be (4-5 guys back) going into the last turn, then we actually got into the last turn and I saw I was about 10 guys back, I HATE BEING SHORT because 1) I cant see ANYTHING in a crit! 2) I get lost in crowd 3) my dating range is limited to girls under 5 foot 4 and under once you account for heels.......grrrr heels
OK things that suck:
1) girls that wear heels
2) Putting socks onto wet feet
3) Ohio weather 9 months of the year
4) Not having a job after college
5) France
6) The vanilla shake I got after the race when I really ordered jamoca
OK im done.....thanks to all the Savage Hill gang members that came to the race today. Keep it real, real orange.

Hot, fast, and of course it wouldn't be a 4's race without a crash.
Good job to J. Baum and Miamisburg for a well organized race, oh yeah, and Aaron too for winning -CONGRATS. Glad I got to meet you before you became a star.

Thanks to the SavageHill boys who stuck around, it meant a lot, especially the feed from Todd....you da man.

I wish the rest of you guys could have seen gamm in the Cat 5 race he was flying.
Yes...Yes...I crashed again. I know...I know.. you'd think it would be out of my system by now...but i guess its not.

Anyways I pretended I had a flat so they would let me back into the race, I don't think the guys in the break liked that I was jumping back in...but I guess you can never please everyone. Again it was a great course...somewhat fast until at the middle of the race and the very end.

Good race for the SH boys. Even though team Dayton outnumbered us we controlled the race. Mark K. handed me a prime with a great lead out. Unfortunately I am not a good sprinter and was not in the correct gear, so I got nipped at the line. After that I never really recovered. Felt a lot better on Thursday’s race which had a deeper field and a lot faster pace. Great job to Aaron, caught the field sleeping and attacked at a perfect time for the win.

So for the second race of the day and in combination with the heat I really had to wonder what I had left. I started maybe mid pack and quickly slid to the back (I really have to stop doing this). After a few laps I decided to make a move for the front and as I was doing so a break formed around me. With Pete from Breakaway, an I-Pro, and I think a wheelie-fun it looked like it had quite a bit of potential. We quickly built up a nice gap, however after the prime the I-Pro guy slid back to the pack. At this point we figured we'd be doomed without someone from the largest team in the field. After a couple more laps we faded back.

Around mid race an I-Pro slid off the front, this time I bridged but it was clear he was too tired to work. I spent the next couple laps seeing what I could do before sliding back to the pack. At the end of the race I attacked with what I thought was 2 laps to go, got a good gap on the field but my heart sank when I came through the start/finish area expecting the bell only to read 2 laps remained. I kept out front the next lap but after the bell I had almost nothing left. The field went around me into the first turn and I hung on to the back avoiding 2 crashes then sprinting for just a couple of places.

Thanks to Todd for blocking while I was away. I can't believe I mis-counted the finish...
